ARTIST STATEMENT

I have always been drawn to the natural world, and in those places have consistently found the extraordinary in the “ordinary”. Closely studying details through my drawing or painting practice brings me to question, questioning leads to exploration, exploration leads to discovery, and discovery always leads to wonder. The complexity of the interconnections in all things beckons me in - it elevates my spirit and broadens my mind. In recent years I have begun to move away from realism towards abstraction of the forms I am investigating. The work I create explores the richly layered beauty of these organic forms, while asking you to share in the contemplation of the deeper mystery and meaning found therein. Wonder, after all, has two meanings: Curiosity, and Awe. I invite you to wonder.
